AI Future in 2025.

This page preserves a fuller 2025-era snapshot of the AI Future platform: its long-range agenda, funding base, talks, public writing, student work, and selected research outputs.

Snapshot scope
  • Research agenda around digital species, reasoning, and alignment
  • Funding across defence, telecom, software, and scientific AI
  • Selected talks and essays from 2016 to 2025
  • Theses and representative publications
Research Agenda

Three directions that shaped the platform.

Scaling out

The program looked beyond a single model toward societies of agents that learn through experience, collaborate with people, and develop collective intelligence over time.

Reasoning

Core work focused on structured reasoning, compositional generalization, memory, and neural systems that can infer new knowledge from prior knowledge.

Alignment

Truthfulness, values, safety, and civilization-scale impact were treated as system design questions rather than afterthoughts.

Funding

Selected support behind the work.

2025

Above 2m tree canopy extraction from high-resolution satellite imagery, SmartSat CRC, $98K.

2022-2024

Learning and reasoning on multisensor data, Australian Department of Defence, $850K.

2021-2023

Framework for verifying machine learning algorithms, ARC Discovery, $360K.

2020-2021
